KPB Programs & Services: College Scholarship Program

The annual scholarship contributes $2,500 per school year directly towards tuition or necessary college-related expenses for a first-generation college baseball player or student involved with the baseball program (team manager, sports information, analytics/statistician, etc.) at an accredited not-for-profit community college or 4-year college or university. Scholarship recipients may apply to renew the scholarship up to three additional years if they continue to meet the scholarship renewal requirements. Learn more about the Scholarship Program and recipients below.

"The scholarship means the world to me and it feels great to be welcomed to an organization with a powerful story. I'm grateful and motivated to succeed in not only baseball and school, but to be a better and well-rounded person, especially because sports aren't forever. I'll put my all into everything and I know I have some wonderful people behind my back."

Want to sponsor a KPB scholarship recipient?

KPB's first college scholarship recipient, Chris Catalano, receives his degree in Exercise Science from Tennessee Wesleyan University in 2025. Chris excelled in the classroom and on the field, where he was First Team All-AAC and helped lead the Bulldogs to the NAIA College World Series.
Current KPB scholarship recipient, Christian Rambeau, throws a pitch during his senior season playoff game. Rambeau is currently a freshman at Cosumnes River College, where he pitches for the Hawks.

BREAKING THE CYCLE

Helping First-Gen Students Overcome Obstacles

Not all paths to a college degree are equal. First generation college students graduate at lower rates, incur more college-related debt, earn less money post-college, and are less likely to participate in a sport or activity than their continuing-generation counterparts. In fact, first-gen college students are more than twice as likely as continuing-gen students to leave school within the first year.

While the program is in its infancy, we are 1 for 1 in assisting recipients to earn their bachelor’s degree.

By covering essential costs, the KPB College Scholarship reduces the need for recipients to take extra jobs or work long-hours, allows them to focus more on academic and athletic success, and helps lower stress and improve health. Each scholarship doesn’t just change one student’s life — it creates a ripple effect across families, communities, and future generations.

Once they graduate, first-generation alumni are more likely to:

  • Give back to their communities
  • Become role models and mentors for others
  • Enter public service, education, and community-focused careers

We are excited to expand the program in 2026 and are actively looking for individuals or businesses who want to sponsor the cost of a scholarship. If you are interested or want to learn more, please contact Ethan Guevin at Ethan@KeepPlayingBaseball.org.

Continued enrollment as a full-time student at a 2-year or 4-year college or university is a necessary condition to apply for scholarship renewal.

No. The scholarship is intended for students who plan to play or be involved with baseball at their two-year or four-year college or university. There are many different ways a student may be involved with baseball, including as a player, analyst, broadcaster, researcher, team manager, or in another capacity. We invite students to explain their involvement and relationship to the game of baseball in their application. Playing status is not a condition for receiving nor renewing the scholarship.

Yes. Any 1st generation college student involved with baseball at a 2-year or 4-year college or university is eligible to apply, regardless of their year in school.
